People are constantly on their phones and there is no stopping it, we know that technology is growing due to innovation and the popularity that it gets. Seamlessly, it’s no surprise, in fact, that the digital world of marketing has to be enveloped due to the mass of users that are on their phones and undoubtedly tapping away with the features that phones have. According to Pew Research Center , 9 out of 10 millennials own a smartphone, this would encourage Gen Xers to be influenced by their children’s obsessive of smartphones today which has subsided both positively and negatively. More so, smartphone companies have continuously attracted consumers to be very savvy, in terms of quality, value, and features, therefore all play a decision-making process for consumers to be constantly updated or not.

Moving towards businesses taking advantage that takes smartphones to the next level which is applications created within people’s phones. Omni Channel Marketing, creates a seamless process that would feature the traits of shopping online and offline. Starbuck’s success of mobile marketing has created a buzz of a reward system, how most if not all businesses adopts a rewards system to their loyal customers who go to their app and shop. The reward system has gotten people to jump on the app and have consumers spend time, be able to skim through the app and have customers buy something worthwhile. Starbucks ordering system has relished the path of for online convenience, from visually listing the products to receiving your chosen drink, the process has made it smoother giving people that simple convenience that makes the app great. Starbucks, mobile orders have increased by 7% (2017) due to its rewards system, featuring a free drink when you have 125 stars, you can also fast forward your chances by buying the same drink three times in a given period or just visit Starbucks several days in a row.

Creating incentives for consumers makes them feel intrigued by giving free goods, in return for them to spend more time on the app. This can also ease congestion when it comes to customers who shop in-store, making it convenient for mobile ordering. This ties in with Omni Channel Marketing, this being a massive component towards both traditional and digital marketing.

  1. Interesting read Joseph. Starbucks have done a great job in enhancing their customers’ shopping experience by introducing this cool new feature. It creates user engagement and long-lasting relationships with their customers as they are constantly coming back to the store to gain that free drink. I personally use the Starbucks application myself and see it as a big factor to attract me back into the store to get that free drink. Good job Joseph!

Seeing this is a win, feedback from the customers are given through how much usage they use from the app and also giving primary data that Starbucks can use to improve from.   2. Hey Joseph great blog post! Businesses nowadays have to keep up with their competitors of what they are offering. If this means hopping over by using apps to provide rewards and incentives for customers so be it. Customers want to be acknowledged and cared for whether inside or outside of the business. With Starbucks providing this rewarding this new feature, no wonder why they stand strong in the coffee market!

Other than Starbucks, Boost Juice is another successful business that offers the reward system which attracts returning customers with a free drink when they have reached a number of points. Consumers are more likely to be attracted by free things, because they are free, why not? Doing so, it could attract more returning customers as well as build a relationship with customers and increase in brand loyalty.
